PUPPY INFORMATION

Before we even consider the puppies, we plan the "encounter" with the parents very carefully.  This includes inbreeding coefficient calculations and planning pedigrees out to seven generations.  Only then when we are happy with  the paper result, are puppies planned.

Our puppies are born in the house,  in either our bedroom or the spare bedroom.   They normally live there until they have had their first vaccination at 6 weeks. The only exception is if there are complications, then they are born at the Vets Practice.  A week after their first vaccination they progress out into the first bedroom/living area.  Here they learn to mix with the older dogs, cats, visitors, TV and general day to day experiences.  After their second vaccination, they progress to the puppy run just outside the fromt door.

Our Canine Association regulations, by which we abide, stipulate that puppies are not to leave the breeder until the age of 8 weeks.  We think this is too young, considering Miniature Longhair Dachshunds are a small breed and at 8 weeks are still quite small.  We normally let our puppies go to their new homes from about 11 weeks onwards, if there is someone home during the day.  If they are going to a "working family" we prefer they stay just a couple of weeks longer.

We sell our puppies on the "Limited Register", unless you are a "Registered Breeder" with your local Canine Control Council.

The Limited Register, means the dog is not eligible for either Exhibition in Conformation Shows or Breeding and is not able to be exported out of the Country.  Our puppies new families also sign a Spey/Neuter agreement before they take their new member home.
